THE POLYGAMIST is an original South African radio drama series set in Johannesburg and the KwaZulu-Natal heartland.
At its centre is Sandile Dlamini — a 52-year-old Zulu patriarch, corporate powerbroker, and husband to three women: Nomsa, his dignified first wife of twenty-six years; Zanele, his sharp and ambitious second wife; and Thandeka, his youngest and most isolated third wife, kept quiet in Soweto until a baby made the secret impossible to hold.
But the drama's true subject is not Sandile. It is the three women navigating a life he built around them — and slowly, episode by episode, beginning to build lives of their own.
When a woman from outside all three marriages surfaces, and an old man at the ancestral homestead stirs a secret that predates the second wedding, every structure Sandile has carefully maintained begins to show its cracks.
