I know I am writing from only my perspective but I love almost all your guests. Regardless of them, and the show that ensues with you, you make every episode about your guest and making sure they exist outside of you. This is a rare quality in anyone attempting this format let alone the depth and length you peruse. Only reason I knock a star, is due to guest list. I enjoy MMA but not as much as many the majority and that’s my own hang up. I get super excited for all science to “science” speakers. Though I do get drained by even the major expert. All the withstanding, thank you for the best podcast I’ve listen to, and gave this much time to ha.

Hey Joe love the podcast and just love everything about you!! As a lot of things about Judaism the slaughtering of the animals to make it kosher(which is the basic translation of shechita) is not understood entirely and can be misconstrued-through no fault of anyone-because of ignorance. That being said, I’m sure you can guess by now that I’m a religious Jew, my dad is actually a Rabbi and my three brothers are Rabbis and my grandfather was actually a shochet- a ritual slaughterer, so in episode #1082 with Greg Fitzsimmonds when you guys were talking about kosher slaughter and said it’s the worst I have to correct that. So I’m sure that you know when you get cut with an extremely sharp knife you may not even realize it until you see the blood, so the same concept is brought into slaughtering the animal, as you said the knife has to be extremely sharp and there can’t be any defects in the knife so that when you slaughter the animal it’s actually the best method because the shochet has to pay so much attention and if the knife has any defect, it won’t be as smooth of a cut and then the animal will feel more pain. And it’s the same concept that the shochet can’t have any hesitation, because then the cut will not be as strong or smooth and therefore will be more painful. On top of all this the placement of the knife where you slaughter it has to be so exact so that the animal dies right away and will not suffer. There’s a lot more to this that I don’t know but just wanted to inform you so that in the future maybe this knowledge might help you see the ritual slaughter in a different way. Don’t take this in the wrong way, I’m not offended in any way because I understand that this wasn’t meant as a jab to Judaism, I also don’t expect you to now go and correct what you said and you don’t have to, this was just to help inform the podcast in a way that I can, thanks so much, keep up the good work that you do!

joe’s a goofy dude but humble af, and may be the BEST interviewer in any form of media. Long form is the way of future and Joe has a true skill in developing interesting conversations. His show is inspiring and eye opening, and has opened me up to new prespectives and information i would have never come across otherwise. essential listening for anyone who wants to become a better human and member of this game we call society.
