This is a talk show. Not an investigative, scholarly, educated show. Yet, like so many shows, information is presented in such certainty. The show is undoubtedly entertaining, but be warned. There is an agenda here: money. This isn’t a show to tell you about how the world is and the way it works. YOU decide that. Not Joe Rogan. Not his guests. I’ve lost all my respect for Mr. Rogan for falling into the bandwagon for profitability over morality.

This show has usually struck a good balance of entertaining and irksome. But Joe’s pattern of dismissing or defending bad behavior tipped the scale when he regurgitated right wing propaganda about how anti-fascists started the fires on the west coast. Hey Joe, my state’s on fire, and if you are against those who oppose Fascism- can we then assume you’re a Fascist? #unsubscribed

His “truisms” are tough to take. Like questioning Biden’s mental acuity without acknowledging Trump’s own sorry state of vocal slurring, tipped over gait and “filler words” that appeared this past decade. Talk about calling the kettle black...He does however host interesting guests. But even that can’t shield the stench that’s crept into his act.Apparently he’s become too vested in his self hype to smell it.

We have a president who lives in a delusional world and I am sure he may seize in this. So disappointed that he did not honour his obligation to all of us that subscribe to keep it real AND TRUTHFUL. Joe Rogan carelessly peddles misinformed messages about the role of anti-fascists in BLM protests. It’s very frustrating when someone who reaches as wide an audience as Rogan does, spouts perspectives that are not only ignorant, but also damaging to the cause of civil rights.

I dig Joe Rogan’s openness, but it has conspicuous particular limitations. Acting confused about “non-binary” is just silly, for example. Consider that intersex-characterized people are around as common as Downs Syndrome-characterized people. One group doesn’t challenge rigid perception paradigms, one does. Then account for the other known causes of physical an emotional non-alignment with traditional gender norms. Then imagine a few unknown or little understood causes of physical and emotional non-alignment. It’s not hard and it’s not confusing, unless misguided social paradigms hold you back. Conspicuous imagination and deduction impairment number two: In a recent podcast Joe chuckled dismissively and glibly along with a guest about the current common calculation which places lower epidemiological risk in COVID-19 source proliferation vs structural racism source proliferation. It is a challengeable calculation for sure, but to side-step the huge variable of time scale while dismissing is recognizable as close-minded or shallow-minded. Imagine, if you will, 200 more years of status quo systemic racism and the damage it renders. Compare that to a vigorously mitigated epidemic which ends up lasting 6 years. This is to say that certainty about the relative superior safety of effectively maintaining systemic racism, in favor of optimized COVID-19 source control, is a certainty born of loose and incomplete thinking, seemingly influenced by non-scientific social influence. I love Joe Rogan for many reasons, that’s why specific errors in scientific thinking get under my skin and prompt me to make a little noise. I do trust that Joe is pretty good at productively reacting to careful and earnest criticism and this also prompts my feedback. Re-dose some DMT and re-evaluate please! But keep going, regardless.

Used to be a great show, and honestly there are a lot of conversations that still deserve 5 stars all day. But the political conversations are just absurd and getting to be too much (in both directions!). Wish there was a way to determine if the episode is a fun one or just peddling the same old opinions, but honestly it’s just not a “comedy” podcast anymore.
