The reason why your format works, in my opinion, is because it feels like you are just hanging out with interesting friends having a conversation. People crave the familiar feeling of this. Even people who have never had it know it is a very important to aspect of being human . Even if they don’t recognize that feeling of intimacy and communication in their daily life. It is familiar and comfortable on a cellular level. Human interaction. Also I find your conversations intersecting with my own curiosity. So other listeners probably do as well. There’s something for everyone. So much variety and interesting people come on that we can all learn from. Love this podcast and I recommend it to everyone. Joe is my top choice. Love seeing him grow and mature over the years too. He’s just an epic human.

Tried this out as I was interested to hear an extended interview with Elon Musk and to be fair Joe is a good host, bringing out his guest’s qualities and giving him time to expand his ideas. But spoiled when he started to go off into his own conspiracy theories, you could hear Elon politely saying “uh huh”, “right” without committing himself and he has gone up in my estimation as a result. There are plenty of excellent YouTube videos on the Younger Dryas, Gobal Tepi and ancient civilisations which comprehensively take apart Graham Hancock’s theories. Try North02, Stefan Milo, Dan Davis, Fall of Civilisations for a start. The true stories are fascinating and much more interesting than the conspiracies. Joe should educate himself a bit more and take some lessons in critical analysis.

Joe don’t you think Jamie deserves a mic by now? Protect our Parks 11 you’re telling your guests to stop talking so you can hear him. He has anything you talk about up within seconds that you can read deeply into. His input is sometimes knowledgeable, and you got him sounding like a mouse in the back of the room. Give the man some credit by giving him a mic.
