Each week Russell sits down with fantastic guests to chat about their Brilliant Things; the items, places and people that make life worth living.
Such a joyful, funny podcast. Loved the episodes with Jess Fostekew and Susie Dent in particular. Russell has such a warm, authentically curious interviewing style. It’s a balm for the soul!

In the somewhat gloomy times, Russell Howard and his invitees bring a ray of sunshine, filled with pure joy and laugh out loud moments, great in every sense

Love this podcast , Russell is a great interviewer & the premise of the show gives you a real insight into the guest’s psyche.

Great pod but you need to figure out how not to deafen people with the audio stings. It’s ridiculous. It’s so easy to balance audio. Really inaccessible for any listeners with hearing difficulties or sensitivities and absolutely unnecessary.

Just a really really good podcast. Simple, to the point & funny.

I want to like this - but I will only listen to it when it’s a guest that I love. Russell needs to stop interrupting everybody and turning into a story about him. There are so many times when the guest never gets to finish their story because it becomes about Russell. So irritating!!

Love the guests and the free flowing of chat But listening on decent headphones means you can hear every slurp and swallow of tea/water. That is horrible.

Love this show and it’s always making me laugh. Good positive energy

First time listener and honestly Dan Snow needs to be going into schools, on the news and more podcasts to remind us how precious democracy is. 👏👏

Love this show, Russell is a great host, allows his guest to talk and intelligently adds to the discussion. Great guests too.

Loving hearing about many brilliant things. Brilliant.

You’ve got to stop interrupting people while they’re mid-story. And yes, we know what you mean.
WackyKarl · GB
Great guests and very funny, but how many times can one man say “do you know what I mean?” during a show. Yes, we the audience, and the guests, know what you mean!

Great show, bit concerned about the girl in Spencer Matthew’s Gaddafi chat. Not a lot of concern on the real target of that story!

So, seeing a podcast proposed for you where one episode is longer than 30min, you might approach it with some doubts. I can tell you, fear not. The host and the guests will keep you entertained and engaged all that time and you might learn something about life as you listen.

Russell Howard is a brilliant conversationalist who really engages with his guests. However, for a show that’s otherwise impeccably produced with beautiful sound quality, I would pay even more on Patreon not to hear every time someone takes a drink of water…

This show is mostly fun, but has deeper moments, the host manages that balance very well. A regular listen.

Edit *Now has ads, fair enough. Now has pay walled content that they tease on episodes. Oh, sod off then..* What a lovely man Russell is. The first podcast I’ve heard, since before every single celebrity started one and knackered the charts for anyone who wasn’t already famous, that is advert free. I like to imagine he thought to himself, I’ve got enough money, and did it for the love of it not money. More of this from established, wealthy, celebrities please.

The Adam Buxton ep is absolutely brilliant and the first ep in a while that I wanted to download. Sorry to say that for a while the guests didn’t interest me however Russell Howard is not only one of the best and top British comedians out there, but he is also kind, compassionate and incredibly insightful. Thanks for the fantastic poddy. Highly recommend.

Just found this podcast and have binged it over the last week. Brilliant and interesting guests and Russell has a lovely casual interviewing style that makes you feel at ease and laugh. The only feedback I have is that sometimes Russell cuts the guests off while they’re trying to convey something. Example was when Joel Dommett was trying to talk about the charity he ran the marathon for and how he felt different once having his son. It was a touching and interesting moment that Russell interrupted and kinda ruined Joel’s flow. Maybe because I’ve binged this podcast it’s really jarred with me just how often he does this…kinda like an over excited child who thinks what they have to say is more important. Just pull back a bit…breathe…allow the guest to say their bit…and then come back with your story or joke. Just like doing stand up interviewing is all about timing.

Loving the edit point at about 17.30 in the Tom Kerridge episode. Never know when you’ll have to drop a section on alcoholism eh?

although i think it’s taken it’s premise wholesale from “my time capsule” podcast featuring “mike fenton steven’s” it’s still a nice chat between mates most of the time

Disappointed that you gave a platform to wackadoo hateful Tory Rachel Riley.

Fabulous podcast, really interesting chats. But one of the guest presenters repeatedly uses the F word, totally not necessary, and outrageous to thereby be supporting normalising of pointless swearing.
