Velichappadu or Oracle is a story written by Rafeek Badhriya from Doha, Qatar. Oracle is a mediator between a deity and devotees at Hindu Temples in in certain parts of Kerala, in Southern India. The story is about a small boy, who gets sleepless night about a village Oracle he saw on one day. The boy confides his bad dreams to an elderly friend, who takes him to the person, who turns Oracle in trance. After the meeting, the boy's subconscious mind is cleared of the fear. His friend assures him that God is a socialist and not a magician.
