Join mathematician Professor Hannah Fry and science creator Michael Stevens (Vsauce) as they dig into the weird scientific questions that often go unexplored.
Welcome to The Rest Is Science, a show that sits in the fascinating space between what we think we know, and what we actually know. Why do we assume we understand things like time, randomness, or even gravity? Once you start questioning these familiar ideas, reality becomes astonishingly strange and completely fragile.
Whether you're a lifelong science fan or just naturally curious, The Rest Is Science will change your perception of reality, and prove that the biggest questions are always the most fun.
Been watching Mike for years and it's always a treat when his videos popped up. I was so absolutely stoked to hear he is co-hosting a podcast! And, of course, it's great. Supremely entertaining and informational. Keep it up you two! Looking forward to many, many more! Happy Birthday Mike!

I have just heard the male presenter on this podcast describe an experiment on human subjects known as the trolley experiment. The subjects were recruited for some other experiment and then exposed without warning to the trolley experiment. The male presenter said that they had a psychologist to talk with the subjects afterwards and try to assuage their concerns that people had been killed in this experiment. There seemed to be nothing this experimental psychologist would not do to harm people. The experiments he described would surely not pass an IRB review. What about the long-term PTSD effects on these subjects. This person has no moral or ethical standards. I have immediately unsubscribed from this podcast.

I donโt know why people are getting so upset about Michael talking like, itโs a podcast what are they meant to do sit there?

This podcast really puts into context the rest that i donโt go over in science class :)

One of the best podcasts Iโve consumed in recent years. Episodes keep me engaged and always leave me feeling a little more knowledgeable than I was before. Could not have picked a better pairing for hosting the podcast either, both Hannah and Michael just have this was of describing concepts in such a way that helps you wrap your head around it at a base level. I know Iโm not going to be the next best mathematician or scientist but I can still enjoy the podcasts as they are. Big plus in the fact that both of them take time describing for those listening what theyโre looking at if they bring along an item. Too many podcasts forget youโre only listening if they also record it but these guys consistently remember thatโs not the case and keep everyone involved. Love it and definitely recommended to anyone.

I love this podcast. Just listening to people nerding out besides me makes me so happy:) (ยฐ=ยฐ) | / | \ / | \ / \ This is Lanky Jimbo, he wants to go around this platform, please take him to another podcast.

I donโt really love it but I donโt see whatโs wrong with the man I LOVE THE FACTS ESPECIALLY the One that says: Most of your water is older then the sun

The structure of these podcasts is so unfocused. It would be benefit from sticking to one subject and drilling down into it.

Great informative show, love everything Hannah does but oh the constant adverts, even worse the SAME ones repeated over and over. When adverts are this intrusive, I will go out of my way to actively avoid the products / services advertised.

I really donโt like his accent but Hannah Fry is AMAZING.

The conversation & questions these two have remind me when I use to smoke ๐ back in college with my friends, and weโll talk about all the crazy natural and scientific things that make life stranger than fiction in an amusing way. The only difference being that Hannah Fry and Michael Stevens are much credible, charming, and insightful than we ever were. Iโve recommended this podcast to people who donโt even know what a cell is and they love it.

I found this podcast through โthe rest is historyโ and Iโm obsessed. Iโve been thinking about topics of 2 episodes that I listened to all day. Are we truly alone in the universe? Am I really drinking lava? Truly an interesting listen that is also light hearted yet has depth. Will keep listening, just a shame the episodes arenโt weekly! Thank you for hosting, you have a new regular listener!

As someone who avoided science labs in college like the plague, I have been positively charmed by this fascinating podcast. I suppose it takes me back to a simpler time when I could just be awed by the world around me and not have worry about passing a class. School really has a knack for crushing curiosity. This art history major looks forward to each episode.

Unlike the rest of โThe Rest Isโ, Goalhanger have matched two people who do not compliment each other at all, and there is no depth or insight into the subject material. Michael Stevens especially seems to be more interested in talking than listening or understanding

I bailed at the 2:32 minute mark into a 38 minute podcast and can't actually give any insight into the content because as far as I can tell there was no content, just comercials. And the podcast, if there was any content (again which I was NEVER able to actually listen too), it must oinly be minutes long. Just not worth my time. But it WAS worth my time to write this review to warn others -too many commercials, not worth your time!!!!

At times hilarious, sometimes very nerdy, occasionally complex and/or complicated, but always informative AND entertaining. Think science is not "your thing"? This longtime language:theater nerd is a convert, and I say: give it a try!

I enjoy both the hosts but this show is stupid short with too many ad breaks and thereโs too much conjecture. There needs to be more time in these episodes for the host to fully explain their positions but right now everything they talk about is incomplete because they only talk about it for 10 minutes! Wild.

Two great, opposite but compatible hosts that combine incredible subject matter, humour and surprises narrated eloquently, compellingly and accessibly. Hannah Fry has the sexiest voice of any podcast (sorry @Anita Anand #Empire)

I donโt write reviews, but I had to for this podcast. Found on YouTube, subscribed here. Itโs like sitting around with your nerdy friends chatting about interesting science tidbits and didja-ever-wonders. Humble curiosity in easily digestible chunks. Love it!!
